A Luton homeowner wanted their existing glazed conservatory to be more comfortable to use without replacing the external roof. As well as insulating the existing glazed roof, the side of the conservatory facing the boundary fence was converted from full-height glazing into a solid plasterboarded wall. That gave the space more of a proper room feel, while the remaining glazed panels, windows and roof structure stayed as they were.
Our Solution
The existing external roof was kept in place. Multi-layered foil insulation was fitted across the ceiling and around the opening roof vent, followed by a timber support framework over the insulation. The internal ceiling was then boarded and finished in white tongue-and-groove UPVC panels, with the opening roof vent trimmed back into the new ceiling. A timber framework was also built in front of the glazed side facing the fence and finished with plasterboard, creating a solid internal wall in place of those glass panels. The remaining glazed panels and windows stayed as glass.

Installation summary
An internal insulated ceiling was installed while keeping the existing roof structure and opening roof vent. Multi-layered foil insulation was fitted across the ceiling and around the opening roof vent, a timber support framework was installed over the insulation, and the internal ceiling boarding was then fitted and finished. The opening roof vent was retained and trimmed into the new ceiling. The plasterboarded wall on the fence-facing side was completed as part of the same two day job, and the remaining glazed panels and windows stayed as glass.

Customer feedback
“I was looking to get my conservatory roof insulated for quite some time from someone in Luton but did not have much success, until I came Sung Roofs, who are based in MK. I contacted them via Facebook and John was quick to respond. He ran me through options available for the work I needed in my conservatory and explained everything in detail via a video call. As agreed, the fitters, Colin and Neil arrived on time and worked hard throughout the day; however, due to plasterboard finish I asked for one of the walls, the work had to be moved to the next day. Both again arrived in the afternoon as promised and stayed till late to finish the job in two days. I am well pleased with the quality of work and how the interior of the conservatory turned out in the end. The temperature inside the conservatory already feels much moderate than it was ever before. I would highly recommend John and his team for their professionalism and dedication to their craft.”
